The real reason your business is stuck at the same revenue
You're generating revenue. The business is real. But the number barely moves month to month. This is one of the most common and most frustrating positions in entrepreneurship — and almost everyone diagnoses it wrong.
The instinct (and why it's wrong)
When revenue plateaus, the instinct is to sell more. Run more ads, reach more people, take more clients. This makes things worse if the plateau is caused by a capacity or operations problem. More clients at the current level of organisation creates chaos, not growth.
The actual causes of revenue plateaus
Capacity ceiling: you are the bottleneck. Everything runs through you. You can't take another client without dropping one. The fix is not more sales — it's delegation and process documentation.
Pricing floor: you are fully booked at a price that keeps the business small. The fix is raising prices, not finding more clients.
Product ceiling: the product you're selling has a natural market size that you've reached. The fix is a new product or a new market, not more of the same.
Leaky bucket: you're acquiring customers but losing them. Every new client replaces one who left. The fix is retention, not acquisition.
How to diagnose which one you have
Answer three questions: are you fully booked? Are your prices covering your costs comfortably? Are your clients staying? If the answers are yes, no, and no — you have a pricing and retention problem. If the answers are yes, yes, and yes — you have a capacity problem. The solution is different in each case.
